The Chase · Fish & Oyster

One of my favourite foods of all time is a good o' lobster roll. Sweet, slightly briny and succulent chunks of warm lobster meat tossed in mayonnaise, a pinch of herbs here and there, some dill, some tarragon, maybe even a pinch of fresh chives if you swing that way, and a squeeze of lemon (not too much, it's a lobster roll, not a lemonade, please).

I can't believe it took me this long to blog about the best lobster roll of my life. Okay, maybe I am romanticizing it too much and being unnecessarily dramatic. But in my defence, it was an extremely good lobster roll, if not the best I've had. More on that later.

Besides the lobster roll, the rest of the meal at The Chase · Fish & Oyster was amazing, the food, the ambiance, the service, and last but not least the company. We were there to celebrate not one, but two birthdays. And man did we pick the right restaurant. Side note: I genuinely hate having celebratory dinners at mediocre/bad restaurants, it doesn't have to be expensive or fancy shmancy, but the food & service have got to be fantastic. Do I ask for much?

Without further ado, let's talk about The Chase · Fish & Oyster. The decor is sleek, clean and modern. There are a large number of seatings inside, but I wouldn't show up without a reservation.

Drinks to start, of course I had my usual Caesar, while the other ladies had strawberry sparkling cocktail, pear juice mocktail and beer. The pear juice mocktail was particularly delicious, more memorable than my Caesar.

We ordered a few dishes to share, so we can try a little bit (or a lot) of everything. The Oyster Po'Boy Sliders were a crowd pleaser. Fried oysters... you can't go wrong. The Lobster "Waldorf" Roll was succulent, fresh, slightly sweet. It was incredibly balanced, not at all heavy. So delicious! The only thing wrong with it is that there is not enough of it!(sounds super cheesy, I know, I cringed a little when I wrote that as well. I'd take it away if it wasn't true. But it is.) Also, I have every intention on reproducing the warm potato salad at home, potato chunks and grilled corn in a herbed oil dressing... I can do that, can't I?

They had three desserts of the day, we ordered one of each (of course... gluttonous).

Good food + good company, I can't ask for more.
Actually I can, more lobster roll please. ;)

Likelihood of Returning* = 3/5

This is a predictor of how likely I will revisit this establishment in the future. My likelihood of returning is dependent upon various factors, such as my personal taste preference, my personal experience at the restaurant, my perception of the value provided by the restaurant, as well as other factors such as location (for example, on a TTC subway line), personal convenience, price and the preference of the friends whom I often dine with. Or... is it somewhat indicative of what's not said? Ha, stop that paranoia! Or should you... ;)
